Our Story
Frustration to Innovation

Pushing Through
For as long as I can remember, I've had flat feet. Like many, I tried stretching, exercises, and countless over-the-counter insoles—but "pushing through" was just a reality of life.
The story begins in 2021 when I was training for my first Ironman. I sought out a top podiatrist and paid nearly $900 for what I was told were the best orthotics money could buy. After multiple doctor visits and two months of waiting, my orthotics finally arrived.
They got me through the race, but I needed more support. Another $400 and another month of waiting, my adjusted pair still wasn’t ready for my semester abroad. Frustrated and in pain, I spent months walking around Europe with nothing more than cheap Amazon insoles, wondering—why isn’t there a better way?

A Lightbulb Moment
While studying at INSEAD in France, I met Dr. Zac Cartun, a physician with a passion for re-imagining smartphones as medical resources. As we researched the orthotics industry, we discovered that doctors were already scanning patients' feet with their phones and tablets. But no one had built an app to let patients do it themselves. That was our lightbulb moment.
We quickly got to work, recruiting a team to develop the first-ever mobile foot scanning solution—so anyone could access high-quality custom orthotics without the hassle.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship Meets Modern Technology
Creating great orthotics requires more than just digital innovation—it demands expert craftsmanship.
We knew we needed the best, which took us to Oberkochen, Germany to meet with Dominik and his father Dietmar Walter. Winners of the prestigious “Adalbert-Seifriz” Design and Innovation award, among others, and inventors of the first CAD-based insole milling system, we were blown by the unrelenting passion they had for orthotics while visiting their factory.
Today, the Walters lead our design and production, ensuring that every pair of Stride Soles is built with the same precision and dedication as family patriarch and last traditional shoe maker in Germany, Berhard Walter, Intended.
